The way we live is causing this rapid change in our climate. Learn about how the industries and processes we rely on are the main source of greenhouse-gas emissions, which are causing an increase in the Earth's temperature, and consequent alterations in weather patterns.

Greenhouse gases already emitted into the atmosphere mean that further climate change is unavoidable, regardless of future emissions. However, we need to reduce our greenhouse-gas emissions to prevent even more climate change.

We also need to prepare for the climate change that we cannot avoid because of our previous emissions, which have set us on course for a changing climate.

  • OPAL climate survey - OPAL are no longer accepting results for the OPAL Climate Survey but you can still study climate using the resources on their page.
  • Weather Observation Website - Can you see clouds, rain or sun? Can you identify the clouds you see? Can you record the wind speed? The UK Met Office Weather Observation Website (WOW). WOW allows anyone to submit their own weather data, anywhere in the world.
  • Analysing climate data - Get involved with analysing climate change data. Help scientists recover Arctic and worldwide weather observations made by United States ships since the mid-19th century and help contribute to climate model projections.
  • Analysing storms - Patterns in storms imagery are best recognised by the human eye, cyclonecenter.org need your help analysing these storms.
  • Making weather observations - Get involved with analysing climate change data.
